An overview of the companion app for the Bourbon Beats campaign
Overview
Jim Beam required an iOS app to support its limited release ‘Bourbon Beats’ range, a collection of cans with unique designs on them. Users could scanned those designs to import that unique can into the app. From there they were able to access individual music tracks that, when combined, created a one off song for users to play with and share.
As Digital Art Director, I worked along side the Creative Lead, Mainstream Art Director and Copywriter during the entire design process.
The design
The overall design concept was to create a mock sound mixing board. The cans would appear at the bottom of the screen as your inventory. From there they could be dragged into any available spot on the board, where depending on where they were placed, a unique melody would play as the can animated along. When combined with other cans, the music created would be a unique piece, allowing for a significant amount of variations to be explored..
I created the entire sound stage, the imported cans and animations as well as the campaign logo lockup for the app store.
